Hi,
I just got the Gamecom 780 headset for my birthday. I hooked them up and they worked fine. The only thing I can't seem to figure out is how to change the bass level in the headphones. I play games or listen to music that has a lot of bass and my headphones give me very little or no bass at all. Is there a way I can change it in the headphone's control panel?
Any help would be appreciated.
I don't know about the headphones, but windows allows you to lower the bass, in the sound control panel (right click properties on the speaker in the tray or go through control panel etc...) Under playback select the device your listening to with the headphones and click properties, then go to the tab group tone at the top, lower bass balance to liking.
Your sound card drivers may also have an in built EQ you could use.
Though, if the headphones aren't giving ample bass, they may not built for a frequency response that low. But that should get you whatever bass you can get out of it.
@Pirate-X - Unfortunately, that won't work because the sound card does not apply in this case since the GameCom 780 is a USB headset. USB headsets count as their own, seperate, sound driver and do not have anything to do with your system's native sound card. Also, Windows does not natively have Treble/Bass controls for USB headsets, this information has to be injected by the driver.
@xMissyChrissyx - I feel your pain. I'd love to see an update to the GameCom 780 driver since it's a little thin as it stands. I've read that switching from Game/Movie Mode to Music Mode will give a better bass response. It seems like a very very slight adjustment though. As I've said before, I'm not sure if the difference I'm hearing is real or if my brain is tricking me into believing there is more bass simply because that's what I've been told.
Before using the GameCom 780, I used the Logitech G35. Both headsets have 40mm drivers and frequency response from 20Hz to 20KHz. However, the G35 had much better software support in their drivers and the bass response could be edited in the driver EQ to be much stronger (to the point of distortion if you weren't careful). Both headsets have identicle frequency response, so we already know that the GameCom 780 is capable of the same low frequency bass as the G35. The issue solely sits with the driver.
I'm really hoping that Plantronics will do something more with the GameCom 780 driver and add more functionality. It's simply not quite good enough as it is.
